The TASC Class at Mount Royal School has teamed up with Starbucks Coffee! Each Thursday morning, the TASC students walk around and provide donated coffee for teachers in our school community. This program is student led meaning that each student is responsible for important tasks such as counting money collected, taking orders, and providing each teacher with their specific order. The most important aspect of this program is that each student communicates and develops their social skills when they interact with teachers and students around the school; as well as, the lovely employees at Starbucks Bankview!
Using money collected from the Recyclables, the ACCESS and our TASC will be going to Chianti's Restaurant for lunch together. The date will be Wednesday December 13th.
On November 23rd 2017, from 8am-8pm, Mount Royal Junior School will be hosting a Parent Teacher Conference Day. Please get in contact with me to make an appointment to discuss our progress thus far. Look forward to seeing you!
The community based life skills program is an integral part of the curriculum for TASC and ACESS programs at Mount Royal Junior High School. As such, we will be leaving the school starting off in close proximity, learning street and community safety in a real-world setting. We will gradually build on our walking skills and move further out into the Mount Royal community’s local stores, parks and community service providers. We will be including safety, community travel training and purchasing food items from different local vendors.
(fire station and Calhoun Library, ect.). These activities will occur on various dates throughout the 2017/18 school year with our first walk happening on Thursday October 4th, 2017. Next Thursday September 28th Mount Royal Junior school will be participating in the annual Terry Fox run! Please use the following link to help support us in our efforts to raise money for those affected by Cancer.

I look forward to speaking with each of you. Together, we can find out more about each other and, more importantly, more about the best strategies we can use to ensure your child is accessing their full potential.
After a summer full of friends, family, and fun, I am feeling charged and ready to enjoy the following two school terms with the wonderful community here at Mount Royal Jr.
Below is a photograph of a catamaran canoe I got to try out this summer. Connecting two voyager canoes allows for added stability in the water. All-in-all, it creates a safe and more comfortable experience for anyone with developmental disabilities, fear of water, or low paddle experience. Great fun and I am glad to see adapted gear that functions to open opportunities for everybody. |
